FAQ
ABOUT OUR TRAPS
How does HexaTrap work?
It uses a built-in fan to create upward airflow that mimics warm human air plumes and disperses an attractant to lure mosquitoes. Once drawn in, mosquitoes are trapped, which can help reduce local mosquito activity over time.
What does HexaTrap catch?
It the trap is effective in trapping both common mosquitoes and tiger mosquitoes. It has been reported to significantly reduce the number of mosquitoes. It only catches mosquitoes (no other pollinators).
Does HexaTrap require a power source?
Yes, HexaTrap comes with an outdoor power adaptor, which requires a power source.
Can HexaTrap be used in all outdoor spaces?
The trap is designed for outdoor use and is suitable outdoor areas. It is important to place the trap in an area where mosquitoes are most active.
How big is the protected area?
One HexaTrap can effectively cover around 300 square meters.
Energy consumption
HexaTrap is very low consumption. That is why you can let it run 24/7.
FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS
When should I start the traps?
The sooner you start the traps, the better. In the spring, or whenever the temperature goes over 15° C. By capturing mosquitoes as early in the season as possible—a mosquito may lay up to 300 eggs—you can use the trap to keep the number of mosquitoes as low as possible. Those eggs will develop into possible bite-producing mosquitoes, multiply, and dramatically boost the mosquito population. It's possible that a mosquito you see in your yard originated within 200 meters of your house.
Where should I store my traps during winter?
The best place to store things is inside and away from winter conditions. The trap should not be kept below freezing temperature.
Why should I leave HexaTrap on 24/7?
Very important. To maintain a consistent catch rate and drastically lower the mosquito population even when you are not outside, HexaTrap should run around-the-clock. Electricity consumption is very low and won't have a significant impact on your bill.
How can I kill all mosquitoes?
Mosquitoes are not killed by the trap per se; instead, they die from dehydration after becoming trapped in the capture drawer.
You can reduce the local population of mosquitoes by taking a look at the entire mosquito population in your region. You won't, however, completely eradicate the population because there will always be some mosquito breeding grounds nearby where new mosquitoes can spawn. The roader the area covered by the traps, the greater the effect. For this reason, you need to work together with your neighbors!
Are the traps safe for pets and kids?
Traps are safe for pets since they don't use any pesticides. Pets and kids, should not be around the electrical parts. All of our traps are insecticide-free and designed only to catch mosquitoes—not any other helpful pollinators.
ABOUT MOSQUITOS
Why do mosquitoes bite?
Blood is necessary for mosquitoes to make their eggs. In order to lay their eggs, female mosquitoes search for other living beings, such as humans and animals, to bite and consume their vital blood. Mosquito males do not lay eggs.
Why are tiger mosquitoes different?
Tiger mosquitoes have the ability to spread dangerous illnesses like dengue fever and chikungunya. They pick up these infections from a single human bite. After about ten days, the virus starts to multiply inside the mosquito and the mosquito can infect other humans with just one bite.
Tiger mosquitoes differ from other mosquitoes in addition to these dangerous concerns because they feed during the day. They are unusually persistent and aggressive. Since tigers often do not fly in big groups, the success of a catch is determined by the actual number of tigers captured rather than by the majority of normal mosquitoes.
Why do mosquitoes love me?
A number of variables, such as heat, carbon dioxide, and smells that humans release depending on their genetics, nutrition, skin microbiota, and other circumstances, draw female mosquitoes to particular individuals.
